What is Kajukenbo?

Brief history
of Kajukenbo
Kajukenbo is a hybrid martial art that originated at the Palama Settlement in Honolulu, Hawaii. Developed in the late 1940s, it was created as a practical and effective self-defense system by combining techniques from multiple martial arts disciplines.
The art was founded by Adriano Emperado, who worked alongside fellow martial artists Peter Choo, Frank Ordonez, Joe Holck, and Clarence Chang to blend the strengths of five different fighting systems. The name Kajukenbo is derived from these arts: Karate, Judo, Jujutsu, Kempo, and Chinese Kung Fu.
